Why Is an Addiction Treatment Center Necessary?
![]()
Treatment centers for chemical dependency can and should be called on for help at this stage. This is the most promising and dangerous time for an addict. In this brief moment, the mental illness of addiction is not strong enough to mask the external and internal suffering of the substance abuser, and the reality shines through the gloom. Currently, the addict is willing to accept help but also dangerously close to succumbing fatally to addiction, either through overdose, crime or suicide. Action needs to be taken quickly in these circumstances. Treatment centers work best in this situation, where they can counsel the addict and make this notion of needing to quit even stronger in the addict’s mind. The same survival instinct that once said, “Drink, use,” now can be trained to avoid those impulses; who better to help this process than trained counselors and psychologists in the recovery community?
