You may have heard that admitting you have a problem with addiction is the first step to solving the problem. This is entirely true. For an easy example, let’s look at another treatable, chronic disease. A diabetic who refuses to acknowledge he has diabetes will steadily get sicker and more debilitated, eventually succumbing to the disease and dying a miserable death. When someone is diagnosed with diabetes, they make a daily decision to modify their diet, take their meds and control their insulin; or, they get incrementally sicker and die a slow, miserable death.
