Anorexia Information
Friday, November 11th, 2011Anorexia nervosa signs are at times hard to spot, but if you know and understand the disease it will be easier. When someone is anorexic they do not eat enough food to sustain a healthy weight. They usually show the classic signs of malnutrition: distended stomach, the growth of fuzz, skins pigmentation changes as well as teeth or nail deterioration. Finding an anorexia treatment center that can help is a great idea. Facilities such as these also will be a great resource to find information about the disease. When someone suffers from an eating disorder they will most likely struggle with the disorder the rest of their lives. It is crucial to receive treatment and talk to a specialist because they are able to teach the patient necessary life skills to not relapse. Some of these skills are coping skills as well as ways to understand what type of emotional state may set off a relapse. Ultimately, it’s a great idea for the patient to check himself or herself into a dual diagnosis treatment facility, but that does not always happen.
If you or a loved one suffers from an eating disorder talk to a specialist immediately. That way you can start the process of recovery. Help is out there, you just need to know where to look!

There is a large amount of women and men who suffer from eating disorders in Los Angeles. A close childhood friend of mine has suffered from an eating disorder (both bulimia or anorexia, at different points of her life) and I have struggled our whole friendship with how to approach her. It shocks me that she has such low self-esteem because she is beautiful, intelligent and funny. How could she get to this place? She is one of my best friends, but I’m concerned that by talking to her about it she will only pull away and take the discussion as a form of criticism.
