Having an education learning disability can be difficult more anyone. At least we live in a time when schools are willing to believe that the individual is actually suffering as opposed to being lazy or a slacker. Learning disabilities are completely treatable. There is an employee assistance program in California that can help through this difficult time. Having a learning disability isn’t the end of the world once the individual recognizes they have an actually disability. Mental health in California is important, be sure to understand yourself as well as giving yourself the time necessary to overcome the disability.

I have dyslexia and when I was younger, I was lucky enough to have parents that did not give up on me. There are many options to help overcome a learning disability. But it is also crucial to remember that there are so many learning disabilities that can impact someone. Once a professional was able to recognize which disability I was suffering from, I was able to address it. I went from the reading level of a fifth grader to the reading level of a senior in high school in a matter of four days. Before I hated to read, now I read at least two books a week. The combination of certain chemical can actually result in death. Also, binge drinking is very common in college, but also extremely dangerous. eatimagesThere is a large amount of women and men who suffer from eating disorders in Los Angeles. A close childhood friend of mine has suffered from an eating disorder (both bulimia or anorexia, at different points of her life) and I have struggled our whole friendship with how to approach her. It shocks me that she has such low self-esteem because she is beautiful, intelligent and funny. How could she get to this place? She is one of my best friends, but I’m concerned that by talking to her about it she will only pull away and take the discussion as a form of criticism.

Different types of eating disorders affect individuals at different times of their life. Its hard to say what the specific catalyst maybe. There are treatment centers in California and anorexia treatment facilities that can help as either a resource or a place to talk to a specialist about your specific situation. Eating disorders are a delicate issue and should be taken seriously. Ultimately, the individual won’t receive treatment until they believe they have hit bottom. Maybe one day I will be given the opportunity to talk to my friend about the implications of her disorder. That way she can start her long road to recovery.
